Center Director Megon Coon is an experienced educator and lifelong vocalist. She earned dual degrees in Elementary Education and Spanish from the University of Alaska, then followed her interest in languages and learning to the University of Minnesota, where she obtained a Master’s degree in Second Languages and Cultures Education.

After working in both elementary and adult education for several years, Megon and her husband Kevin started their family in 2016, and Megon discovered Music Together® classes shortly thereafter. Participating in the classes with her children reignited the passion for making music that had been such an important part of her youth. She trained as a Music Together teacher in California and was thrilled to discover that teaching the program’s research-based, developmentally-appropriate curriculum full of songs from around the world was a perfect way to blend her passions for music, education, language acquisition, and culture. She started Music Together Mountain Song in 2022.

Karen Lease has been teaching Music Together for 5+ years and joined Music Together Mountain Song in 2023. She stumbled upon Music Together as a new mom and loved it so much she wanted to share the joy of music making by teaching it: “I played piano and tuba in my youth and sang in the choir, but really missed that feeling of playing instruments and singing with other people. Music Together was a way to do this with young kids and also rekindled my passion for music.”

Karen comes to us with an extensive teaching background; she has taught everything from high school sciences to kids yoga. Now, she can frequently be seen around town with her family, ukulele in tow, or jamming with the Alaska Jumping Fleas. She also suggests dusting off that instrument in your closet or your vocal cords to make music together with your family and friends.

Jen is the newest Music Together Mountain Song teacher and is so delighted to join the team after being a long-time Music Together parent (and superfan). Her professional background in education, plus her love of kids and music, make Music Together a perfect fit.

Jen’s lifelong love of music led her to enroll her first child in Music Together as a toddler, but COVID got in the way. In 2024 she found Music Together Mountain Song, and both kids started music class - August in Mixed-Age, and North in Rhythm Kids®. The whole family was completely hooked! In the car, at home, even at Fred Meyer… someone starts humming a Music Together tune and before you know it, it’s a full-blown multi-part family jam session (and everyone’s in a better mood). Jen believes all families can find joy, connection, regulation, and growth through making music together. She loves coming together in class to sing and dance in community, and to inspire grown-ups and kids to enjoy music freely and unselfconsciously.
